US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s draft report is predicting a 7 degree Fahrenheit rise in average global temperatures by 2100 as a result of human activity leading to increasing carbon dioxide emissions. Interestingly, France says they will reject trade deals from countries that reject the Paris Climate Accord. Far more important is to see how they will enforce this proclamation.
A study by Niven Winchester, a principal research scientist at the MIT Joint Program on the Science and Policy of Global Change, estimates the impact of a trade war between the U.S. and the rest of world in the scenario when the U.S. alone does not comply with the 2015 Paris Agreement. The aim of such a trade war would be to compel the U.S. to meet its Paris pledge. The study finds that all nations lose when there is trade war. However, the proportional income losses in the U.S. are larger than those in other countries. Links below:
